Thankful Thursday

I have so many things in my life to be thankful for..here is a short list for today:

1. My husband who does everything in his power to make sure I’m happy (90% of the time…)

2. A baby who will snuggle up with me when he goes to sleep

3. A job that is trying, keeps me on my toes, but can be so rewarding

4. A mom who has never said “ I don’t think you can do that...”

5. I was able to teach myself how to sew on a sewing machine older than I am…

A little of this, a little of that...

I have friends that update their blogs daily and it always sounds so put together and thought out. I really hope I get to that point! I follow blogs with wonderful decorating ideas, craft ideas that I know I can make. These are the ladies I look up to for my blog inspiration. But, for today, it's just plain Meggy.

I lost my Dad April 21. We loaded up our little family and headed for Missouri. I had two days worth of driving to reflect on a lot of things. I really didn't know him very much as a person, and I didn't realize that until it was too late. That ride made me re-evaluate my life. Before I was the friend you only called when you needed a shoulder to cry on, or someone to vent to. Not anymore. I have had a rough year, and the only shoulder I had was my husband. I'm done with that. I try not to be as critical of others as I was before (I'm still working on that)...

We celebrated our second wedding anniversary while we were in Missouri. I love my husband more today than I ever thought possible. I have so much to be thankful for.

The kiddo is doing some cool stuff now! He can pull up, and stand up. We don't think he is far from walking. He eats table food like a champ! At his last doctor's appointment he was about 23 pounds.

We celebrated my birthday over the weekend with a Haunted Pub Crawl through downtown Wilmington. It was more like a history tour, but it was still a good time!

It's been a while..

Ok, we didn't buy a house. We haven't moved. But we are working on it.

A lot has happened since I posted last, some good, some not so good, and some really crappy, but shananana life goes on.

I'll post more later :)

Sick Baby

Jackson had to go to the doctor again. He started wheezing last night, and this morning his cough got worse. I called daycare to check on him around 1, and he had only drank about an ounce of formula. We went to the doctor, and his breathing passages are inflamed and he has an ear infection.
He does not like the mask that goes over his mouth and nose, but he didn't try to take it off. That, plus trying to give him his medicine is not going to be fun..

Tortellini in cream sauce

1 pack (some are 8 oz, some are 10) refrigerated tortellini
8 strips bacon
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
Italian seasoning, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste
Start the water for the pasta.
While you are waiting on the water to boil, cook bacon (I usually use kitchen shears to cut into bite sized pieces before I cook it). When the bacon is finished, remove from pan and drain on paper towels. Using the same pan, turn the heat down to med low.
Cook tortellini according to package directions (Leave a little extra room in the pot, as the pasta swells when you cook it)
While the tortellini is cooking, add the heavy cream to the pan you used to cook the bacon. Return the bacon to the pan, along with the parmesan cheese. Add spices to your liking. Don’t bring the heat any higher than medium.
Drain the tortellini and mix with the cream sauce. Yum!

Really not a good weight watchers recipe...

So we want to buy a house

Our hunt has begun for a new home.
We have looked at some rentals, and found one we like. But something gave me the notion to look into buying a house. We have no clue what we are doing, but we are going to start looking into first time home buyer programs.

I also want to start Weight Watchers again soon, and I think this will be a good way to help keep me on track! I want to loose at least 50 pounds, and will be thrilled if I can loose 75 pounds. I was on Weight Watchers before I got pregnant, and I really like the program. The meetings keep me accountable.
